Meeting Place: In front of Virgin Megastore in Villagio carpark. From there we will caravan to the hills of Al Kharara.

Ramble Time: About three hours. Expected time back in Doha is 12:30.

What to expect: A varied stroll through a beautiful landscape with multiple objectives: (1) To look for snakes and lizards with Drew Gardner; (2) to compare the vegetation and the algal mats to what they were in November with Renee Richer; (3) to reminisce with Ed Lewis about how Qatar and the QNHG have changed in the 12 years since he was charman; (4) to look for animal tracks in the sand with Fran Gillespie; (5) to celebrate thirty years of QNHG and ten years of rambling; (6) to work up an appetite to do justice to the sumptuous feast at Al Sharq in the evening.

Vehicles: Four-wheel drive is necessary for the last few kilometers. There are always extra places if you don't have a 4wd car.

Requirements: The usual: snacks, sunscreen, hat. Bring binoculars if you have them.
