Trip Summary:

Agrico for Agricultural Development is one of the first agricultural companies in Qatar established in 2010 and located in Al Khor, Qatar. Agrico produces a big variety of products including vegetables, leafy greens, fruits, mushrooms and plans to expand its product range with tilapia, shrimps, and eggs in the near future. The company uses innovative production methods and has advanced hydroponics and aquaponics facilities.

In our ramble, we will get familiar with different food production systems including soilless farming techniques like hydroponics and aquaponics that combines aquaculture (fish farming) with hydroponics. Moreover, we will get to know some organic farming techniques which differ from the conventional ones in terms of chemical pesticide and fertilizer use, as Agrico is certified organic by the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture).

Notice:  Please remember that every person attending the Ramble is responsible for their well-being and safety. Make sure to carry you QID and Ehtaraz App.  As Covid restrictions are in place, we do not encourage potluck.

Children are welcome to join our activities, but should remain under parents supervision

Trip Leaders - Omar Bin Abdul Aziz Bio

A birding enthusiast by day, an astronomer by night and an engineer in between. Behind me are hundreds of pinhole projections of the eclipsed sun from Doha earlier in 2020. I'm proud to live with my 8 inch telescope, a bunch of cameras, a bicycle and three daughters!
