April Ramble #2:  Exploration of the archaeological site at Murwab Saturday

QNHG members are invited to join us on a 2-3 hour trip around the archaeological site at Murwab, which dates back to the 9th century. We will be led by our guest speaker, Dr. Alexandrine Guerin.

Gathering time and place:

Members can either:
Meet at Carrefour car park at Landmark (25.335066 51.468308) at 07:45am, with the intention of leaving at 08:00am. Travel in convoy to the meeting point. From Doha, we take the North road towards Al Ruwais/Madinat al-Shamal. At the intersection ZUBARA: take the direction of Zubara / turn left (west direction).  Make their own way to the site meeting point which is at 25.919922, 51.144890 on the road to Zubara, on the left hand side. A road sign mentioning Murwab is at the location. If you miss this spot, carry on to a small asphalted road to the village of Al-Na'aman at 25.863163 51083203

Please note you will need a 4x4 vehicle. If you do not have one, you may be able to get a lift with other members at Carrefour.

What to bring:

Vehicles: 4x4 drive required. A full tank of petrol, as the site is 100km northwest of Doha. Other items: Sensible footwear, sunscreen, hats, lots of water, snacks.
