December Talk: Explore Coral Reefs & Discover Diving

We welcome members and non-members alike and do not charge for our monthly talks. Doors will open at 6:30 PM,  This allows time to join us for light refreshments, pay your membership dues, and to peruse the QNHG library before the meeting begins at 7:00 PM and mingle with other members.

Synopsis of talk

Few people know the divable waters of Qatar like Khaled. His talk will provide a brief introduction to coral reefs, with some interesting statistics and underwater (UW) footage from Qatar. The history of diving will also be discussed along with the positive effects it has on the environment and communities in Qatar and worldwide. The talk will also cover how the UW videography and photography can positively affect conservation of marine life.

Short biography

Khaled Zaki

Mr. Zaki is a Master Instructor and Marine Consultant for Diving,Search & Rescue and Underwater Photography. He has 25 years of experience in the diving industry and the past 18 of those he has been part of the Qatar diving community while still working in projects in the Red Sea, Egypt, Oman, Maldives, Philippines, and Thailand.

He has produced a variety of Marine Documentaries with BBC network, Qatar TV, AlKass TV, AJ+ and Al Rayyan Channel, and has written many articles in newspapers and magazines on the subjects of diving, tourism, and the environment.A variety of Mr. Zaki’sUnderwater photographs were recently chosen to be on the official Qatar postage stamps.
