Synopsis of talk
The theme of Qatar’s natural environment holds an important place at the National Museum. The iconic building itself is inspired by the naturally occurring geologic formation known as the ‘desert rose’. Art films, models, interactive screens and exhibits all contribute to bring the multi-layered stories of Qatar’s natural world to life.
This talk gives insights into how the National Museum presents the natural world and some of the key messages contained within the exhibits.
Short biography
Dr. Alan Kirwan is an arts and cultural professional who has worked for over twenty years’ in the museum and gallery sector. He specialises in the area of public programming and education and has devised and implemented innovative public engagement strategies for diverse audiences at cultural venues in Ireland, the UK, Belgium and currently Qatar. He has been based at the National Museum of Qatar since 2017.
