Dear Members,

This year the QNHG celebrates 40 years in Qatar, as we were officially established in 1978. As our season progresses we plan on sharing its history with you in honor of the 1,000’s of members who explored Qatar’s wonders before us.

Starting my second season as Chairwoman, I serve on the QNHG Committee with 8 other volunteers who work to keep this wonderful organization offering unique and informative talks, as well as getting us out to see the many different facets of the desert environment of Qatar. You will have the chance to meet the Committee members at meetings and rambles. I, myself, credit the QNHG for showing me its hidden treasures in my 7 years of being a member. I hope we can offer you the same experience.

Make sure you start off the 40th season at our FIRST MEETING this coming Wednesday, October 3. We are excited to have Dr. Kuei-Chiu Chen, an Associate Professor of Biology at Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar, as our speaker.

Please read the speaker announcement for more details on her and her talk. Doors will open 30 minutes earlier than normal at 6:00 p.m. to allow plenty of time for everyone to sign up for their yearly membership before the official meeting begins at 7:00 PM. Also, to kick off our first meeting, we will be serving a light meal. Shawarmas, fatayers and mezzes will be offered, there are vegetarian options in the selections. We will have tea, coffee, and water available. Our ramble will be indoors this month; those details and the signup will be at the meeting.

Let’s share the QNHG’s 40 years together this year learning and exploring the nooks and crannies of Qatar. Grab some bottles of water and let’s go!

Yours in adventure,

Sheri Kenly
Chairwoman QNHG
