Trip Leader Bio

(Omer Bin Abdul Aziz)

A birding enthusiast by day, an astronomer by night and an engineer in between. Behind me are hundreds of pinhole projections of the eclipsed sun from Doha earlier in 2020. I’m proud to live with my 8 inch telescope, a bunch of cameras, a bicycle and three daughters!

Trip Leader Bio

Dr. Péter Tamás Nagy is an art historian of the Islamic world with a background in Arabic textual sources. Most of his research has focused on heritage architecture in Morocco. Apart from that, Dr. Péter is equally interested in the modern discovery and reception of Islamic architecture, including how buildings were studied, perceived, and occasionally imitated in Europe. In his current job in Doha, he investigates the architectural heritage in Qatar, focusing on royal palaces built in the twentieth century.
