As we go through this challenging time, many of us are still in Doha for the summer. So the steering committee has decided to extend as much as possible our activities during this hot season. In parallel with a sharp decrease in the transmission rate of the virus, and as the authorities are easing the restriction's measures, we should be able to organise some small outings. We are thinking of some Sunset and Sunrise walks in the desert, where we could enjoy the outdoors and hopefully make some beautiful observations. We shall, of course, respect the rules of social distancing, and adhere to the measures of the official phase. We should be able to send further announcements out shortly.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

Looking forward to seeing you online,

Warm wishes,

On behalf of the Steering Committee

JULY TALK - Youth Unstoppable: The Global Climate Movement

Date & Time: Wednesday, July 15th video Conferencing  Starting at 7pm.

Speakers: Neeshad Shafi, Executive Director, Arab Youth Climate Movement Qatar

Synopsis of talk

The talk will provide an overview of the climate movement globally as well as in the Arab regional context. Our history and work in the Arab Youth Climate Movement Qatar (AYCMQA) will be showcased through our vision, mission, and programmes. Issues of inequality between global north and south and on the limited support provided to the Arab youths working on the movement will be discussed. When thinking about the importance of the youth participation in these mass climate mobilisations, it is useful to consider the fact that they have a higher stake in tackling climate change than the older generations because they are fighting for their future, and on average, they may better educated on these climate crisis related issues.
