This talk will introduce the marine turtles found in Qatar, focusing mainly on the Hawksbill turtle and her nesting season from April to July. It will cover major threats to turtles and outline key conservation efforts by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, including beach protection, research programs, and public awareness initiatives. The session aims to highlight Qatar’s ongoing work to protect these endangered species.
Speaker Bio
Charan Kumar is a marine biologist who studies the migration of Whale Sharks. He is currently working in the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, focusing on sea turtles and coral reefs. He is passionate about marine life and works to protect it. As a SCUBA diver, He enjoys exploring and studying the underwater world up close.
