Synopsis:
Celebrated globally on the first Sunday of May, Dawn Chorus Day encourages people to wake up early and listen to the symphony of bird calls and natural sounds that greet the rising sun. It is a worldwide celebration of sound and a reminder of the importance of slowing down and listening deeply to the world around us.
To celebrate International Dawn Chorus Day, Fire Station will host a unique listening and storytelling session led by sound artist Guillaume Rouseré with group member Omer Bin Abdul Aziz, in collaboration with the Qatar Natural History Group (QNHG).
The event will center on the early morning soundscape known as the dawn chorus—a moment at daybreak when birds and other wildlife create a spontaneous acoustic symphony.
Through shared recordings and conversation, this event offers the public a reflective space to connect with nature through sound and deepen their awareness of Qatar’s natural habitats.

Speaker Bio
Guillaume Rousere is a French sound artist and field recordist whose work explores the relationship between humans and nature through immersive sound installations and eco-acoustic compositions. As a former artist in residence at the Doha Fire Station, he continues to build bridges between art, science, and environmental awareness. He recently represented Qatar at the Gwangju Biennale in South Korea and has exhibited internationally at UNESCO in France and other venues across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
